Camo Print is the New Neutral You Need in Your Wardrobe

While some may consider camouflage print a trendy print that is best worn by pop stars, hunters, and the military, we think it’s a total classic — not to mention a neutral! Camo print, with its mix of brown, beige, black, and earthy green, is an easy way to liven up your day-to-day outfits while still sticking to a neutral color palette.

Camo is back in a big way for fall 2024, and we especially love a loose-fitting camo pant for summer-to-fall dressing. It’s easygoing and casual thanks to the breathable cotton fabric and relaxed fit, but can be dressed up with the right shoes and accessories too. Is it time to give your favorite jeans a break or swap your summer whites for cool camo? Ahead, we’re sharing some of our favorite ways to wear camo print.

What to wear with camo print

The easiest way to incorporate a new print or pattern into your closet rotation is to start small, pairing it with a basic top, sweater, or pant. Think black, denim, cream, brown or a similar safari green color.

For a casual look

Treat your camo pants just like you would a pair of jeans or cargo pants. Toss them on with a simple tee or knit sweater and sneakers, pair them with a cropped short-sleeve hoodie, or stick to a classic tank-and-pants combo. A camo print dress is an easy way to try out the trend and pairs perfectly with your favorite denim jacket in black or blue.

If you really love camo, rock a camo jumpsuit! It’s a lot of head-to-toe print, for sure, but the neutral tones keep it extra-wearable. For a pop of color, add bright shoes or accessories in complementary colors like red, pink, and purple. (Just tread carefully with orange, which can give off “hunting season opener” if you’re not careful.) Camo also looks cool with neon shades or pastels to soften the tough-leaning print.

How to dress up camo print

The 2000s are trending again, so lean into the throwback vibes and pair your camo pants with high heels, a tank top, and lots of jewelry for date night. A sleek tank looks great, as does a sheer, delicate blouse, which adds feminine contrast to the hard-edged pant.

More ways to incorporate camo print into your wardrobe

If wearing the full print still feels like a little much for you but you’re into the idea of camo, try incorporating colors and tones from the pattern into your outfits instead. Army green is a classic solid that is just as versatile as denim and looks great with crisp white, denim, and black.

You can also add touches of camouflage to your looks via your accessories, like with a patterned bag, sandals, or even a camo print strap for your favorite cross-body bag.
